SMS Consent & Opt-In Policy
This page documents the patient consent workflow used by dental practices utilizing Molaris. It is intended for patients, dental practices, and telecommunications carrier compliance review.
Consent is Optional
Patients who decline SMS receive their forms by email instead.
Receiving dental treatment is NOT dependent on SMS consent.
Who sends what
Molaris is a HIPAA-focused communications platform used by dental practices. Molaris never independently contacts patients or markets directly to them. All SMS communications are initiated only after the patient’s dental practice obtains the patient’s consent. Molaris never independently collects patient phone numbers and only delivers transactional messages after the dental office records that consent.
The patient gives their number and consent to their own dental office — never to Molaris directly.
Consent workflow
- Patient requests forms by text while scheduling or checking in.
- Staff ask permission using the spoken disclosure below.
- Patient agrees — verbally, or by initialing the paper intake form.
- Staff record the consent in the patient’s record in Molaris.
- Molaris sends the SMS — only then, and only about that patient’s forms.
How it happens at the front desk
Visual proof of the consent workflow
The three artifacts below show exactly how consent is collected and used. (Representative mockups — each practice’s branding varies.)
Screenshot 1 · The paper intake form
Offices collecting consent in writing use this consent block on their paper intake form:
Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help.
Consent is not required to receive treatment.
Screenshot 2 · The front-desk consent record
Staff record the patient’s request before anything is sent:
Screenshot 3 · What the patient receives
Up to three transactional message types, each tied to a form the patient asked to receive by text — typically 1 to 3 messages per visit:
We never send marketing or promotional messages, and we never message purchased, rented, or shared lists.
Opting out and getting help
- Reply STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT) to any message to opt out immediately. One final confirmation of the opt-out is sent, then nothing further.
- Reply HELP or INFO for assistance, or contact your dental office directly. You can also email hello@getmolaris.com.
- Opting out of texts never affects your dental care. Your office will use email or phone instead.
